Gloria Steinem Passes at 92

Hot Hero Sandwich Gloria Steinem's interview segments from episodes 2 and 8.

Gloria Steinem’s recent passing September 2, 2026, brings to mind her interview on Hot Hero Sandwich episodes 2 and 8 with Dr. Tom Cottle where she discussed her childhood. Only about five minutes of responses from an approximate three-hour long interview are provided. While we get an insightful look at her formative years, one can only wonder what the remaining 2 hours and 55 minutes would have provided, but, alas, that footage is long gone.

Steinem was a great score for Hot Hero Sandwich. Along with others in the early feminist movement, she pioneered and promoted new career paths for women and challenged society’s fixed, traditional roles for her sisters. Beyond her influence in society and politics, Steinem became a fixture of pop culture beginning in the 1960s with her iconic look of long straight hair and aviator wire-framed eyeglasses. Intelligent, talented, and beautiful, she remained on the public stage for over 60 years and will be long-regarded as one of the most influential public figures in American history. 

Steinmen was a hero to generations of young girls and her participation in Hot Hero Sandwich embodied the show's highest aspirations for its viewers.
